Couples and Marital
Counseling

Love comes with struggle and with struggle comes love. We know that every couple has ups and downs and that it takes strength to seek help. Whether the troubles have begun recently, have been simmering for years, or came with the relationship couples counseling can provide a space to explore conflicts, communication difficulties, emotional disconnections, and current or unresolved relational wounds.

Couples and Marital Therapy allows those in a relationship to not only identify their patterns, underlying communications, and needs, but also learn new coping, communication, and emotional connection skills to improve the love you and your partner share.

Premarital and Prenatal
Counseling

Even the most exciting moments in our life can come with unexpected stress and anxiety. Taking the leap into a new step in life can take courage and planning and we are here to support you. Premarital and cohabitation counseling are not tests to determine if two or more people should live together. It is a tool to help determine strengths and areas of growth as you begin your relational journey.

Whether you are considering living together, making a life commitment, or creating a new life together, transition can lead to questions, conflicting goals, and general fears of failure. Through cohabitation or premarital counseling, many of these issues can be addressed and resolved before they have lasting effects on the relationship.

Nothing is as exciting and scary as planning for a new little life in the family! Parenthood has to be one of the biggest adjustments in anyone’s life and we are here to support you and your growing family. Trained through the Gottman Institute’s Bringing Baby Home education, we provide individual, couple, and workshop sessions to support and educate new and soon to be parents.

Family and Parental
Counseling

We have all heard that no man is an island. While we live in a highly-individualized society, we are becoming more and more aware of the affect our environmental systems have on each of us. Family, friends, school, work, culture, and society are just a few systems that influence us on a daily basis.

In family therapy, we address relational dynamics that affect not only family members that may be displaying behavioral and emotional signs of distress, but also the affects of these dynamics and behaviors on all family members and the family as a whole. This inclusive therapeutic treatment structure addresses the root issues that cause relational dissatisfaction and improves the relational skills of the entire family rather than a single individual.

For those whose who wish to engage in parental therapy, sessions can help parents learn parental management skills and parental relational skills as well as process the demands of parenthood in a supportive environment.

Individual
Counseling

We all have times in life when we find ourselves overwhelmed. Whether someone is battling outside stressors or internal struggles, individual therapy can be helpful in several ways including emotional evaluation or diagnosis, professional evaluation and consultation regarding mental health and interpersonal issues, and collaborative treatment planning and implementation.

Most importantly, sometimes we just need someone to hear us. Often, we play this role for everyone else and find ourselves without outlet. Supportive therapeutic alliance and emotional validation allow us to improve our self-care and reflection, taking stock of the internal and external factors that affect our well-being.
